PalFlicks Movie Saving App
Many young and older adults are craving to see the latest blockbuster movie, but it's hard to conserve spending when it has gotten so expensive. The PalFlicks feature allows moviegoers to save money amongst other people, so they can have an enjoyable movie experience. I am the lead designer working on creating the platform in the fall of 2021 with some feedback from moviegoers and other google UX designers.
The Problem
Having the capability to split the cost with people using a virtual bank that allows any form of payment will create many opportunities for moviegoers. Also, ordering everything online make lines shorter since customers can order the food which the theater employee will bring to them. Giving the moviegoer more flexibility and less hassle demand a well-structured product that can succeed in these expectations.
Goals
Users: Saves money and hassle for an enjoyable movie experience. Business: Grow users and recruit theaters to be on the platform. Product: Allow the layout to be easy for users to transition from screen to screen.
How It Works
Determine to make the app work properly for Moviegoers I conducted 2 usability tests with different feedback suggestions to make the split cost feature work properly. Changes that were made during the 2 usability tests were getting rid of the scrolling in the seat selection section to make it no scrolling, adding a near theater location page instead of having the feature in seat selection section, show how the split cost effect the price of the movie tickets, show how the credit card is in the checkout section and needs a proper homepage. Particularly in the food selection section, it needs to have fewer transitions and scrolling for food items as well.
Results
The feedback that I had received from many moviegoers and other UX designers was very positive, with a lot of them mentioning how they like the split cost feature being easy to separate individual items and costs. Looking at the overall feedback of the project from multiple perspectives where to go in the right direction, the splitting cost movie app has become a great success.
